Tragurion, today Trogir, was founded by the Greek colonists, merchants of Mother Issa (Visa) during the 3rd century BC. It is one of the oldest Mediterranean cities with a continuity of existence of four millennia. The castle and tower surrounded by walls make up the center of Trogir for which it is said to be “the most beautiful and the most artistic island of the world” – the most beautiful and artistic most invasive island of the world.
The town of Trogir is situated on the coast of the Kaštela Bay, on the island between Čiovo and the mainland, connected by stone bridge to the mainland. It consists of eight settlements: Arbanija, Divulje, Drvenik Mali (Ploče), Drvenik Veliki, Mastrinka, Plano, Trogir and Žedno.
