Activities and Excursions
The rich history of Central Dalmatia, many small places and a small distance to bigger and popular places like Split, Makarska, Trogir, NP Kraka, Brač Island gives a good predisposition to experience something more in Central Dalmatia.
Zadar
Zadar is one of the most popular Croatian tourist destinations, which the London Times proclaimed as the “center of fun on the Adriatic”, and Guardian “the new Croatian capital of cool”. It will conquer you with its special atmosphere and rich life – whether it is day or night. In the summer, Zadar hosts the Musical Evenings in St. Donat, the Zadar Summer Theater, the Contemporary Music Festival, the KalelargArt – Street Art Festival, and the urban Zadar Dream Festival. You will certainly have fun on the Night of Misery, Millennium Jump, or at one of the world’s music attractions concerts.
Sibenik
The beautiful city of a unique urban expression is linked to the vivid narrow, curving Canal of St. Ante with open sea. The entrance to the canal preserves the Renaissance fortress of St. Nicholas, who is with three other city fortresses – St. Mihovil, vol. Ivan and Šubićevac, a symbol of the centuries-old misfortune of Sibenik, but also one of the three such fortresses in the Mediterranean.
The most significant monument in Šibenik, known for its European architecture and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is definitely Šibenik’s cathedral of St. James from the 15th and 16th centuries. In addition to Sibenik there is also a Solaris water park, especially interesting for the youngest.
Islands
Croatia is the coast of 1000 islands, so take the time and visit some of them on a very attractive one-day excursion. The islands of Hvar, Brac, Vis hide the interesting history, architecture, coves and the sea that will enchant you. There is also the Blue Lagoon and the Drvenik Island near Villa Martina in Vinišće that you have to explore.
Klis
Like the silent witness of centuries-old history on the stone cliff that opens from Split, stands the medieval fortress Klis, one of the most beautiful fortifications in Croatia. In the long history of this most powerful Croatian fortress in Dalmatia, which was the seat of the first Croatian rulers, noble families and royal protection, but also the place fought by the heroes in the defense of its walls. It was a symbol of Croatian resistance to the Ottoman conquest, and the memories of the famous days are nurtured today by the historical spectacle and the “Kliških uskok” team.
Krka Lakes and Waterfalls NP
Spend half a day of wandering in the middle of emerald lakes and falls of the waterfalls of the Krka National Park from Split. You will enjoy a walk along the wooden promenade, absorbing a panoramic view of the 17 falls of parks and the tranquil lakes. Come close to Skradinski zaljev, the largest cascade of Krka, and take advantage of the free time to swim in the lower lake or explore the charming mill cottages. The road distance from Villa is 75 km.
NP Plitvice
Plitvice Lakes are the oldest and the largest national park of the Republic of Croatia. With its exceptional natural beauty, this area has always attracted nature lovers, so it was proclaimed the first national park in Croatia on April 8, 1949. The process of refraining from forming barricades and creating lakes is a unique universal value for which the Plitvice Lakes received international recognition on October 26, 1979, by enrolling on UNESCO World Heritage List.
Dubrovnik
The entire Dubrovnik area is known for its vivid landscapes, rich Mediterranean vegetation, mild climate and interesting smaller settlements.
This area, in the past, was part of the territory of the Dubrovnik Republic, and is historically, traditionally, economically and traffic-related to Dubrovnik, and today, in the tourist sense, it is an integral part of the Dubrovnik Riviera.
Getting to know Dubrovnik is not completely unfamiliar with at least part of its surroundings. Good transport links, land and sea, allow for shorter or longer trips.
